Google Announces Change To HTTPS Label

9th Oct 2018

Google will be implementing a change to its Chrome browser v.69 from September, in which they’ll be removing the ‘Secure’ label on all HTTPS site.

This forms part of a larger-scale change that will see the search engine giant flagging non-secure sites from October 2018, by displaying a red ‘not secure’ warning when users enter data on HTTP web pages.

The change comes on the back of a shift in momentum which has seen enough sites move over to HTTPS to warrant the change from Google.
