Compassion Understood provide online pet loss training for staff working in the veterinary sector. Their courses have been developed by leading professionals in the industry, and are set to become the standard accreditations for pet loss education.
The challenge was to clone an existing web system for a new market (country). The website functionality needed to remain largely the same but with some customisations) while selectively including content.
A new online payment system needed to be implemented as the original website used SagePay and the US required SagePay Exchange.
Realnet worked closely with the client to develop a project plan that split the project into sensible sections of content, functionality changes and payment system replacement.
Some content was copied across and ‘tweaked’ while areas requiring substantial changes e.g. the veterinary practices within the country, had import routines created.
Differences in audience behaviour and data e.g. address formats dictated functional changes to the system including the registration process. These requirements were thought out and documented, as were responsibilities for content changes, well in advance of any development so that the project ran as smoothly as possible.
A new website was created that contained all of the features that were a tried and tested part of the existing UK version. The original investment of a complex website that enabled delivery of online courses was replicated at a fraction of the while custom content and functional changes ensured that the new audience ‘felt at home’.
