Case Study: Cavendish French
Challenge
Launched in early Spring 2025, the new Cavendish French website is built upon the flexible and reliable WordPress and WooCommerce combination.
Redesigning the Cavendish French website presented a unique blend of creative, technical, and commercial challenges. These were underpinned by the need to preserve the brand’s elegant identity while significantly enhancing functionality. Key considerations included:
- Balancing luxury aesthetics with ecommerce practicality
- Showcasing a large range of products without overwhelming the user
- Integrating customer-centric features such as Favourites, seamlessly
- Ensuring mobile-first responsiveness
- Migrating to the new platform without losing SEO
- Integration of the website with Mailchimp for email automations
- Cater for both retail and trade type customers
A key aspect of the new website project was to enable Mailchimp integration for automated email communications such as newsletter sign-up welcomes and abandoned basket reminders.
Solution
To convey the brand’s luxurious appeal, the design team opted for a minimalist, image-led aesthetic with generous white space and a soft, modern typeface. High-resolution product photography was made central to the layout, while intuitive buttons and a clean grid structure created a frictionless path to purchase.
Smart filtering tools i.e. by product type, stone colour, price, metal was embedded to allow users to personalise their shopping experience. User experience was further enhanced with the Favourites List feature and the Send a Hint tool (encouraging gifting and social sharing).
A mobile-first strategy was adopted from the beginning and every component was designed to scale elegantly across screen sizes. Load speed was optimised using lazy loading techniques and compressed media assets, ensuring the site feels as fast and luxurious on mobile as it does on desktop.
Email automations are now in place for abandoned baskets and newsletter sign-up welcomes, including a one-off discount offer.
Separate retail and trade pricing and messaging has also been implemented to cater for these different customer groups.
