The UK Search Engine Marketing Report was completed earlier in the year by over 1000 respondents from both agencies and companies involved in search engine marketing.
9% of companies surveyed are spending more than £1 million annually on paid search, with 16% spending more than £50,000 on SEO every year.
63% of companies are planning to increase their paid search budget and 61% are planning are planning to increase their Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) budget over the next 12 months.
Some 89% of company respondents rate Google as the best for return on investment. Yahoo is regarded as the second best by 68%.
The message is clear. The Internet is becoming ever more important for forward looking companies working to expand and grow their business.
Equally clear is that in such a rapidly evolving environment the companies content to sit back and hope for the best are going to slide ever further behind in the new world.
Waiting for Your Cat to Bark? is a recent publication by Bryan and Jeffrey Eisenberg. The catchy title aptly sums up the laissez faire attitude that is the root cause of the lack of contribution that so many companies have come to expect from their websites.
With so many tools available to the skilled web analysts those in the know are finding rich rewards are available from a carefully planed and implemented web strategy.
