10% of Retail Sales in UK Now Online
10% of Retail Sales in UK Now Online
by Dr Tony Berg

Less than Half of UK Businesses Have a Website.
But research by PayPal forecasts British online spending will double to £39 billion by 2010.
So why do nearly half of all businesses in the UK not have a website?
For most companies a website is seen as a necessary evil. A need to have a web address is the prime motivation. But over the past two or three years there has been a major transformation in the way the Internet has been driving business. More and more companies are joining the new gold rush offered by the Internet.
Far from the dot com boom of the nineties, the new opportunities are based on sound marketing and web engineering. It is now not enough to ‘have a website’. A well thought through web based solution, easily found on the search engines, can transform a business.
And the driving force behind this revolution is the range of analytic tools that are now available.
At Realnet we have been offering our clients a partnership that allows them to fully benefit from the technologies that previously were only available to large firms with a well-staffed in house web department.
Now the contribution of a website to the overall company sales can be measured in great detail. And if we can measure it we can improve it.
Month by month we have watched client websites grow in performance to become part of the on-line sales revolution.
