Internet Downtime is up
Internet Downtime is up
by Dr Tony Berg

A panel debate at the February NetEvents in Geneva was based around a recent study, which revealed significant downtime for most websites.
The debate concluded that retailers often spend a fortune on their high-street store but lose out when consumers can't get into their e-site.
We have found that search engine positioning is always top of our clients wish list, but that very few people ever ask about hosting and hosting reliability.
We are in full agreement with the NetEvents panel findings. As a full service provider we always advise our clients to consider all aspects of their web presence.
Of course it is good to be found by people searching for your products and services. But it is also important that they don't bounce straight out of your site when they visit.
It is equally important that they find a well-greased path to follow that takes them through to the 'Call to Action' page.
But if after all that the site goes down you can be sure that many will not be patient enough to return another day.
Make sure it looks good, is well constructed, works in all the browsers and is always available to be your online representative.
Deal with professionals in everything - especially your website which has to survive in an ever more competitive environment.
Don't leave details like the hosting reliability to chance or you may well lose more than just the occasional customer.
