I Don't Know!
I Don't Know!
by Dr Tony Berg

How many visitors are converting to customers?
How many visitors are leaving?
How to improve website conversion efficiency?
"I don't know" is the typical response even from sophisticated website owners.
Yet Web Analytics is a powerful way to answer these questions and is now a free offering from Google.
What is web Analytics? The WAA offers the following definition:
Web Analytics is the objective tracking, collection, measurement, reporting and analysis of quantitative Internet data to optimise websites and web marketing initiatives.
Understanding how the visitor progresses through the site and where they leave is essential to the ongoing programme to continuously improve the conversion efficiency.
Analytics goes way beyond the Stats packages that have held sway for so long. By adding tracking code to each page of the website an extensive an in depth understanding can be developed showing how site visitors behave and how efficiently they flow through to the Call to Action page.
At Realnet we have long recognised that bringing visitors to a website is only the first phase in an effective website solution. We have used Analytics for our clients and have been able to improve the percentage of website visitors who make a purchase from little more than 1% to better than 5% over a two year ongoing programme.
In the fiercely competitive world of the Internet it takes more than just wishful thinking to create an effective online solution.
The key players are making extensive use of Web Analytics to keep ahead of the competition.
